Lhyfe, a prominent global player in green and renewable hydrogen production, has received a substantial €149 million grant from the French government for its Green Horizon project. This initiative will establish a cutting-edge hydrogen production facility near Le Havre in Normandy, aiming to generate up to 34 tonnes of green hydrogen daily using water electrolysis. The project, set to be operational by 2029, aligns with France's ambitious hydrogen targets and is part of the European Commission's Important Projects of Common European Interest program. The funding agreement, facilitated through Bpifrance, includes phased disbursement, with an initial €18 million expected by June 2025. The plant, planned on a 2.8-hectare site in Gonfreville-l’Orcher, will supply green hydrogen for industrial and mobility applications, supporting regional decarbonization efforts. With approvals in place and support from Yara, the project marks a significant step towards proving the viability of large-scale green hydrogen production and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. By contributing to emissions reduction goals outlined in the Paris Agreement, Lhyfe's Green Horizon project not only advances France's hydrogen ambitions but also strengthens Europe's position in the green energy transition.
