Linde Engineering to Provide Carbon Capture Technology in Abu Dhabi's Offshore Gas Project
Key Ideas
- Linde Engineering partners with NEXTCHEM to supply carbon capture technology for ADNOC's Hail and Ghasha project in the UAE, aiming to achieve net zero emissions in one of the largest offshore sour gas developments.
- The HISORP® CC technology by Linde will capture and purify 1.5 million tonnes per year of CO2 for sequestration, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the production of natural gas and oil.
- This electrically-driven carbon capture solution combines pressure swing adsorption with cryogenic separation and compression, achieving over 99% CO2 capture rates without the need for steam regeneration, thus lowering the carbon footprint.
- Linde will also utilize its carbon capture technology to supply clean hydrogen for Dow's Fort Saskatchewan Path2Zero Project in Alberta, Canada, further promoting decarbonization and clean energy production.
Linde Engineering has entered an agreement with NEXTCHEM to provide carbon capture technology for Abu Dhabi National Oil Company's (ADNOC) Hail and Ghasha project in the UAE. The project, aiming for net zero emissions, is a significant offshore sour gas development. Linde will deploy its latest adsorption-based carbon capture solution, HISORP® CC, to capture and purify 1.5 million tonnes per year of carbon dioxide (CO2) for sequestration, reducing greenhouse gas emissions in natural gas and oil production. Unlike chemical-based systems, Linde's HISORP® CC is electrically-driven, operating with renewable energy and achieving over 99% CO2 capture rates through pressure swing adsorption and cryogenic separation. The technology eliminates the need for steam regeneration, thus keeping the carbon footprint low. Linde's involvement in the project aligns with ADNOC's strategy to reduce carbon emissions and move towards cleaner energy production. Additionally, Linde will supply clean hydrogen to Dow's Fort Saskatchewan Path2Zero Project in Canada using the same carbon capture technology, showcasing a commitment to decarbonization and sustainable energy practices.
