Abu Dhabi-based Fertiglobe has officially signed a €397 million contract with Hintco for the supply of green ammonia to Europe. The agreement is a significant milestone for the evolution of the European renewable ammonia market and global decarbonization efforts. Fertiglobe, winner of the first H2Global pilot auction, will start producing renewable ammonia with the first shipments scheduled for 2027, potentially reaching 397,000 tons by 2033. They will use renewable hydrogen from Egypt Green Hydrogen as feedstock for production. The contract signifies the importance of building projects and markets aligning with the Paris climate goals. Timo Bollerhey, CEO of Hintco, highlighted the importance of progress in the clean hydrogen market, emphasizing the need for rapid and efficient infrastructure and market development to address climate change.
