Major energy firms Equinor, Centrica, and SSE Thermal have unveiled ambitious hydrogen projects in the Humber region during an event in Westminster. These projects include the creation of H2H Easington, a green and blue hydrogen production facility, a hydrogen pipeline linking various sites, and a hydrogen storage facility. The plans involve producing up to 1.2GW of blue hydrogen and up to 1GW of green hydrogen, with production set to begin by the end of the decade and expand in the 2030s. The collaboration aims to reduce emissions, drive economic growth, and support the UK's net zero targets. Stakeholders, including Energy Minister Lord Callanan and MP Graham Stuart, have praised the projects for their potential in advancing decarbonisation and creating job opportunities in the region.
