A partnership between TotalEnergies SE, EREN Group, and Danish companies has signed a contract to develop a one-gigawatt solar and wind project near Morocco's Atlantic coast. This project will focus on producing green hydrogen by electrolyzing desalinated seawater and converting it into 200,000 tons of green ammonia annually for the European market. The initiative, located in Chbika, aims to showcase Morocco's renewable energy potential and support the country's economic growth. TotalEnergies and its partners emphasize Morocco's ideal wind and solar resources for becoming a significant renewable energy partner for Europe, aligning with the European Green Deal's objectives. The project's vision includes creating a large-scale green hydrogen production hub in the region.
