PT Pertamina (Persero) is teaming up with Hyundai Motor Group and the West Java Provincial Government to establish a waste-to-hydrogen (W2H) ecosystem in Bandung, West Java. The initiative aims to leverage the Sarimukti final waste disposal site to produce low-carbon hydrogen by converting organic waste into biomethane and then hydrogen fuel. This collaboration signifies a move towards clean energy and sustainability, aligning with Pertamina's commitment to promoting environmentally friendly practices. The project, scheduled to commence operations in 2029, envisions entering the hydrogen market in Indonesia. Pertamina's involvement includes three subholdings contributing based on their expertise, with a focus on encouraging energy independence and job creation. Hyundai's role brings in advanced technology for hydrogen production and infrastructure development. The project addresses waste management and environmental challenges in West Java, offering a sustainable solution.
