MIBGAS Derivatives and DH2 Energy have announced the launch of the first auction for the procurement of renewable hydrogen in the Iberian market. The auction, open to companies from across the globe, will offer different lots varying in supply volume and contract duration. Starting with the pre-qualification phase, the process will move through qualification and competitive bidding stages, leading to bilateral negotiations with selected companies. Participants can bid for renewable hydrogen from DH2 Energy's Hysencia plant in Aragón, which is set to begin operations in the first half of 2027 with substantial electrolysis and photovoltaic capacities. This project, funded by the EU Hydrogen Bank, aims to contribute to decarbonising industrial and mobility sectors. The chairman of MIBGAS, Raúl Yunta, expressed optimism about the potential of green hydrogen and its role in the decarbonisation process. Similarly, DH2 Energy's managing director, Marcos López-Brea Baquero, highlighted the significance of this auction in advancing the renewable hydrogen market.
