South Gyeongsang Province has designated Tongyeong and Changwon as special zones for tourism and hydrogen mobility, aiming to foster southern coastal tourism and future mobility industries. Tongyeong, the nation's first special tourism zone, will see a 2.22 million square meter development led by Hanwha Hotel & Resort, encompassing eco-friendly win-win zones, culture and arts zones, and new industrial business zones. Changwon's Hydrogen-Based Future Mobility District will feature companies investing 694.8 billion won by 2028 for hydrogen tram and electric bus production. With a total investment of 4.5 trillion won from six leading companies, newly established businesses in the special zone will enjoy tax benefits. Gyeongsangnam-do Province plans to enact legislation for balanced regional investment and provide deregulation, aiming to revitalize the local economy and create job opportunities.
