Safe S.p.A. has entered an agreement with Agrobiofert, a Sicilian agricultural company, to supply two hydrogen compressors for the H2Farm project in Sicily. The compressors are designed to reach 450 bar and will optimize the management of hydrogen produced as part of the project. The H2Farm initiative, funded by PNRR resources and supported by the Sicilian Region, aims to establish a 2.5MW plant for green hydrogen production, utilizing solar power. Scheduled for delivery in late summer 2025, the compressors will enhance operational efficiency by allowing modulated hydrogen flow without inverters. Giovanni Maccini, Commercial Director of Safe S.p.A., highlighted the role of hydrogen in reducing emissions and promoting sustainability in agriculture. Sicily's rich solar resources are positioning it as a key area for green hydrogen projects. Another notable project in the region is the potential 300MW green hydrogen plant being explored by Axpo and ENEGO. The technology used for the compressors is manufactured in Italy and includes advanced features like logic control panels, command and cooling systems, and a duplex configuration for operational continuity. The Sicilian region's focus on green hydrogen production reflects a broader trend towards sustainable energy practices in the agriculture and industrial sectors.
