A group of over 100 educators from various parts of Malaysia visited Kuching and had the opportunity to witness the prototype Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) hydrogen vehicle. The visit was part of the School Improvement Partners (SIPartner+) National Conference 2024. Premier Abang Johari Tun Openg, during the conference's opening ceremony, emphasized Sarawak's dedication to green energy and praised the potential of the hydrogen-powered ART. Educators were briefed by Sarawak Metro's project director for the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) Project, showcasing the advancements in public transport. Shbini Saini, chairman of Persatuan Professional SIPartners Sarawak (SIGMA Sarawak), expressed pride in the KUTS project, foreseeing its positive impact on traffic congestion and climate change management. The educators were excited about experiencing the hydrogen-powered ART firsthand and posed for a photo in front of the prototype unit. Sarawak Metro, a subsidiary of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation, is spearheading the KUTS project to modernize public transport, with a strong emphasis on hydrogen technology as a sustainable solution.
