Sembcorp Green Hydrogen India, a subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries, and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) have formed a joint venture to explore renewable energy and green hydrogen projects in India. The partnership is aimed at supporting India's energy transition and development objectives. In addition to hydrogen initiatives, the collaboration will also focus on green ammonia production, bunkering, emissions reduction for port operations, and other emerging green fuel technologies. Both companies have expressed their commitment to decarbonization, with BPCL targeting net-zero emissions by 2040 and aiming to build a strong renewable energy portfolio. Sembcorp, with 6 GW of renewables assets in India, is dedicated to utilizing green hydrogen and ammonia as crucial decarbonization pathways.
