Simplex Castings has been chosen to lead a consortium for the development of a green hydrogen-powered direct reduced iron (DRI) pilot plant in New Delhi, India. This project, part of a government initiative, will focus on producing DRI using 100% hydrogen with a daily capacity of 40 tons. The company will collaborate with partners like BSBK Pvt Ltd, Ten Eighty Investment, and IIT Bhilai to ensure the project's success. The total project capital is expected to be around Rs 230 crore, with significant support from the government covering approximately 70% of the funding. The initiative also includes plans to explore the use of hydrogen in a blast furnace to reduce coal and coke consumption, as well as injecting hydrogen in vertical shaft-based DRI making units.
