The Spanish Government has unveiled its ambitious €1.2bn hydrogen valley program, with 16 projects chosen to benefit from the NextGenEU funds. Companies like Repsol, Moeve, and bp are among the key beneficiaries of this initiative aimed at promoting green hydrogen production. To qualify for funding, projects must have a minimum electrolyser capacity of 100MW and secure a significant portion of their green hydrogen output through pre-contract offtake agreements. Reports indicate that major players like Repsol and Moeve have projects in Cartagena, Tarragona, and the Andalusian Valley, while bp's gH2 200MW plan in Castellón has also been selected. Despite previous adjustments to the project size, bp's initiative remains part of the government's portfolio. This program signals a significant step towards Spain's energy transition and economic development, with a focus on green technology and corporate involvement in the hydrogen sector.
