STEF Group, a European leader in transport and logistics services for temperature-controlled food products, has initiated two hydrogen projects in collaboration with Toyota Material Handling Europe and Plug Power. These projects situated in Athis-Mons, France, and Torrejón de Ardoz, Spain, integrate green hydrogen for powering forklifts at STEF sites. The French project utilizes green hydrogen produced with renewable energy, while the Spanish project generates H2 on-site using an electrolyzer powered by a photovoltaic rooftop plant. The use of hydrogen fuel cell technology enhances forklift operator productivity, offering better performance in cold operational conditions and quick refills, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and efficient supply chain. Toyota Material Handling Europe supplies STEF with fuel cell-ready forklifts tailored to their requirements, focusing on operator safety and comfort. Plug Power provides STEF with a full GenKey ecosystem, including fuel cells, green hydrogen infrastructure, and ongoing service, emphasizing reduced greenhouse gas emissions and enhanced operational efficiency. The collaboration signifies a significant step in developing a hydrogen ecosystem for material handling operations, aligning with STEF's Moving Green climate initiative to achieve 100% low-carbon energy usage by 2025. This partnership not only highlights the benefits of green hydrogen solutions but also expands Plug Power's presence in Europe.
