Sustainable Collaboration for Green Hydrogen Infrastructure Development in China
Key Ideas
  • H2Terminals Limited partners with China National Energy Group's subsidiary and a hydrogen tech company for green hydrogen infrastructure projects in China.
  • The collaboration focuses on offshore energy island, zero-carbon town, and port initiatives to showcase H2Terminals' hydrogen production and distribution technologies.
  • Key technological components include advanced vessel technology, wind turbines, wave energy generation equipment, and hydrogen liquefaction systems.
  • The partnership aims to set industry standards, promote clean energy production, and leverage the scalability and efficiency of floating energy islands.
H2Terminals Limited, a London-based green hydrogen marine technology company, has officially announced a collaboration with China National Energy Group's subsidiary and Yangzhou Pingbuqingyun Hydrogen Tech (Hidrogen) to develop green hydrogen infrastructure projects in China. The focus of this partnership will be on three major initiatives: an offshore zero-carbon integrated energy island project, a zero-carbon town development, and a zero-carbon port initiative. These projects will serve as demonstration sites for H2Terminals' offshore hydrogen production and distribution technologies, including innovative solutions like AEM high-pressure seawater electrolysis and hydrogen liquefaction systems. Gerry Wilkinson, the CEO of H2Terminals, emphasized the importance of this Anglo-Chinese collaboration in driving decarbonization efforts. The technological aspects of the partnership include the development of various elements in the green hydrogen production chain such as composite large-volume gaseous spherical vessels, vertical axis wind turbines, wave energy power generation equipment, and hydrogen liquefaction storage and transportation systems. The collaboration aims not only to showcase technical equipment in the energy sector but also to contribute to the establishment of industry standards. One of the key highlights of H2Terminals' contribution is the floating energy island concept, capable of producing a significant amount of hydrogen annually per unit. This showcases the scalability and efficiency of the company's approach to clean energy production and distribution. Supported by partnerships with Lloyd's Register and the London P&I Club, this collaboration aims to create a framework for the global implementation of floating energy islands and hydrogen transportation systems, further advancing sustainable practices in the energy sector.
