Top End Energy (ASX: TEE) has recently provided an update on the prospectivity of EP 144, a permit in the Northern Territory acquired from Gina Rinehart’s Hancock Prospecting. The company utilized existing seismic and drilling data to assess the permit's potential, focusing on known information to determine its prospectivity. EP 144 is situated near crucial infrastructure like the Northern Gas Pipeline and end users such as South 32 and Teck Resources, facilitating gas market access. One notable aspect of the update is the confirmation of helium/hydrogen potential on EP 144. Top End Energy referenced the NDI Carrara-1 well, located approximately 3.5km away from the permit, which exhibited traces of both elements, with hydrogen levels reaching up to 27%. Additionally, the company identified two significant gas plays in the area: the Carrara Sub-basin Extension covering approximately 600km2 and the Alexandria Sub-basin spanning around 1,100km2. The announcement also highlighted the company's focus on exploration risk, emphasizing the need to identify drill targets for further exploration. While there are no guarantees of significant findings, exploration risk remains a primary concern for Top End Energy in the short term. Moving forward, Top End Energy plans to conduct geophysical surveys on EP 258, analyze historical data on EP 144 through soil gas sampling, and progress with the farm-down of a gas project in Queensland. These initiatives reflect the company's strategic approach to exploration and development in the energy sector.
