Toray's innovative hydrocarbon-based electrolyte membrane technology enhances the performance of PEM water electrolyzers, crucial for green transformations in industries. The company's collaboration with Yamanashi Prefecture and other entities aims to develop a power-to-gas system that converts renewable energy into hydrogen, facilitating the transition from fossil fuels to hydrogen for high-energy-consuming equipment. With a substantial ¥56 billion investment plan, Toray targets a production capacity exceeding 10 gigawatts by fiscal 2028, anticipating significant market growth for electrolyte membranes. This initiative contributes to the establishment of a hydrogen economy in Japan.
