Jacobs has been selected by the U.K. Department for Energy Security & Net Zero (DESNZ) to provide technical project management support for the Carbon Capture, Usage, and Storage (CCUS) program. This initiative is a key component of the U.K.'s commitment to achieving a net-zero economy by 2050. The CCUS program is designed to decarbonize industry, generate low-carbon energy, and facilitate the production of low-carbon hydrogen at scale, thus transforming the U.K.'s industrial base through the creation of clusters around transport and storage infrastructure. The services to be provided by Jacobs include technical project management, strategic advisory services, data solutions, and risk and quality management. Additionally, Jacobs will offer support to the Hydrogen and Industrial Carbon Capture program, working closely with strategic partner PA Consulting to ensure innovative and impactful approaches to carbon capture. The contract with DESNZ spans an initial two-year term, with provisions for extension up to two more one-year periods, highlighting the long-term commitment to achieving decarbonization and energy security goals in the U.K. Under this partnership, Jacobs will leverage its global experience in CCUS projects, focusing on deep geological exploration, environmental consenting, design, and major program management. Jacobs' involvement in various decarbonization and energy transition projects includes collaborations with industry players like Fortescue Future Industries and contributions to the development of the ARCHES Hydrogen Hub in California. The company aims to play a significant role in driving continued development and scaling of CCUS projects, critical infrastructure, and whole energy systems to support the U.K.'s transition to a low-carbon economy.
