VINSSEN Co., Ltd, a specialist in maritime decarbonization technology, celebrated a significant milestone on October 8 by starting the hull construction of a 17.4m leisure boat in Korea. This innovative boat, capable of accommodating up to 10 passengers and reaching a maximum speed of 20 knots, is powered by a 600kW propulsion system that integrates hydrogen fuel cells and high-voltage batteries developed by VINSSEN. The project, titled 'Demonstration of the Charging and Operation of a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Powered Boat', received special approval from Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy in 2023. The collaboration with partners like Jeonnam Technopark, Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute, and Korea Institute of Industrial Technology aims to showcase the viability of hydrogen fuel cell technology in maritime transportation. VINSSEN, with the support of local authorities, plans to construct more hydrogen fuel cell leisure boats and establish a safe testing environment during the demonstration period. The company will also set up a hydrogen charging station and promote eco-friendly maritime mobility technologies.
