ANDRITZ has been tasked with engineering a 100 MW green hydrogen plant in Rostock, Germany for REPCO, a joint venture of RWE Generation SE, EnBW Neue Energien GmbH, RheinEnergie AG, and Rostock Port GmbH. This plant aims to supply the German 'Hydrogen Core Network' and the European Hydrogen Backbone infrastructure, contributing significantly to Europe's green energy transition. The project is set to utilize HydrogenPro pressurized alkaline technology for the electrolysis process, with commissioning scheduled for 2027. The green hydrogen produced will not only be part of the Hydrogen Core Network but will also cater to local industries and the mobility sector, aligning with Germany's decarbonization goals. REPCO's Managing Director, Michael Wurzel, highlighted the importance of this project for advancing the energy transition in Europe, emphasizing the critical role of the 100 MW electrolyzer within the HyTechHafen Rostock initiative. This endeavor signifies a significant step towards sustainable energy practices and reinforces Rostock's position as a key energy transportation hub. ANDRITZ's EVP of Green Hydrogen, Sami Pelkonen, commended the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders involved, underscoring the necessity of collective action in achieving green transition goals. The joint venture REPCO was formed in 2022 with the specific aim of promoting green hydrogen production and distribution infrastructure. This project marks ANDRITZ's second order for a 100 MW green hydrogen plant in Germany, indicating a growing emphasis on sustainable solutions in the country.
