Brisbane Airport in Australia has achieved a major milestone by becoming one of the first airports in the country to attain net zero emissions, focusing on Scope 1 and 2 emissions. The airport has transitioned to using 100% renewable electricity generation for all operations, starting from the beginning of 2025. Brisbane Airport Corporation reduced its emissions significantly by purchasing renewable electricity from Stanwell, expanding onsite solar power, and replacing traditional fleet vehicles with electric ones. The remaining emissions are offset through bush regeneration projects in southwest Queensland. This shift to renewable energy is a part of the airport's commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
