DEME has announced a milestone Cooperation Agreement with the Egyptian Government to establish an industrial-scale green hydrogen production facility in Egypt's Gargoub Port. The new HYPORT Gargoub project, following the success of HYPORT Duqm in Oman, will be situated in the industrial zone of the Port of Gargoub on Egypt's Mediterranean coast. With wind and solar power infrastructure located 70 km southwest, the project will produce green ammonia, targeting 320,000 tonnes annually. DEME's CEO, Luc Vandenbulcke, expressed gratitude to the Egyptian government for their support and emphasized DEME's commitment to becoming a global player in the green hydrogen sector. By integrating electricity and water generation into the projects, DEME aims to ensure 100% green hydrogen production, with the project receiving support from key figures like Minister Kamel al-Wazir.
