Wales & West Utilities is embarking on a significant project to upgrade more than 1,750 meters of gas pipes in Taunton, specifically in the Bishops Hull Road and Silk Mills Road area. The essential work, starting on March 31, aims to ensure a safe and reliable gas supply to local homes and businesses, with an anticipated completion date of September. In collaboration with Somerset Council, the project will involve traffic management measures such as traffic lights and road closures to facilitate the upgrades. Notably, the upgrade is not only about current gas supply but also preparing the network for the future transportation of hydrogen and biomethane, aligning with sustainable energy goals.
