GenCell Energy, a leading provider of hydrogen-to-power solutions, has secured a significant order from Mexico's state-owned utility, Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE), for the deployment of multiple GenCell REX™ backup power units across the country. This order, part of a multi-phase project initiated by CFE, highlights the utility's confidence in GenCell's technology to provide climate-resilient, zero-emission hydrogen-fueled backup power for its substations. The GenCell REX™ units are designed to activate immediately during grid outages, offering long-duration backup power that is weather-resilient and environmentally friendly. The collaboration between GenCell and Gncell Energy de Mexico aims to complete the rollout by 2025, focusing on enhancing substation resilience, automation, and cybersecurity measures to meet regulatory requirements. One of the key features of the GenCell REX™ solution is the inclusion of GenCell GEMS™ proprietary AI-driven energy management software, enabling centralized monitoring and control of the backup power units. The project aligns with CFE's goals of grid hardening, energy security, and transitioning to cleaner energy sources.
