Hyundai Motor Company, in collaboration with the Ulsan City government in South Korea and the Guangzhou government in China, has signed a groundbreaking agreement to advance the development of a hydrogen ecosystem. The tripartite agreement, signed in Guangzhou, China, aims to establish a 'hydrogen industry council' to drive tangible collaboration in hydrogen energy production, supply, and utilization. This council, which will convene quarterly, intends to promote joint research projects involving various industry and academic entities to enhance hydrogen technology competitiveness. Ulsan, designated by the South Korean government as a leader in hydrogen ecosystem development, is set to benefit from Hyundai Motor's support in strengthening its position as a hydrogen-friendly city, alongside Guangzhou. Hyundai Motor's CEO, Jang Jae-hoon, highlighted the company's pioneering role in mass-producing the world's first hydrogen electric vehicle and its commitment to expanding hydrogen infrastructure in Ulsan. Additionally, Hyundai Motor aims to facilitate the growth of Guangzhou, emphasizing its significance as the location of the company's sole overseas hydrogen fuel cell system production base. The CEO underscored China's potential as a key market for hydrogen electric vehicles, positioning Guangzhou as a pivotal city in this landscape. Hyundai Motor intends to serve as a conduit between Ulsan and Guangzhou to propel their evolution into prominent global hydrogen cities.
