Dolphyn Hydrogen, Celtic Sea Power, ORE Catapult, and Wales and West Utilities have successfully secured funding for the Milford Haven: Hydrogen Kingdom project in Wales. The project, supported by Innovate UK, aims to create a pathway for offshore hydrogen generation and onshore distribution. By harnessing Dolphyn Hydrogen's technology at the Pembrokeshire Demonstration Zone in the Celtic Sea, the initiative will explore the production of green hydrogen from floating offshore wind, with plans for pipeline connections to shore and industrial off-takers. The project also includes the ambitious Hyline Cymru proposal, which envisions a 130 km hydrogen pipeline across South Wales, facilitating the transport of clean energy and low-carbon hydrogen to various customers. Steve Matthews, CEO of Dolphyn Hydrogen, highlighted the importance of low carbon hydrogen in Wales and the UK, emphasizing its role in enhancing energy security and achieving net zero goals. Moreover, the project marks a significant milestone as offshore trials have commenced to test Dolphyn Hydrogen's innovative process that combines electrolysis, desalination, and hydrogen production on floating wind platforms. This approach aims to produce hydrogen from seawater in a marine environment, paving the way for large-scale deployment in the coming years.
