Renewco will handle the project development phase, preparing them for construction, while Atlantica will take charge of the construction and management of the portfolio. The 2.2GW pipeline is subject to obtaining grid connection approval. Renewco's diversified greenfield BESS portfolio aims to connect to select transmission substations across Spain, pending grid capacity auctions by the national government. The Spanish Government is considering expedited grid connection routes for BESS projects due to the critical need for enhanced capacity in the country. Renewco, established in 2021, has rapidly expanded its renewable energy pipeline, including projects in the UK, Spain, Italy, and the US.
