In a groundbreaking move, a hydrogen energy industrial park project has initiated construction in the city of Shannan, Xizang, becoming the first of its kind in Southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region. The project, led by the Nedong District government and a power technology company from Shenzhen, is a result of collaborative investment endeavors, with a framework agreement signed in late 2024. Anticipated to be operational by September, the facility will have the capacity to generate 1,000 standard cubic meters of high-purity hydrogen and 300 cubic meters of high-purity oxygen per hour. The head of Nedong, Sonam Phuntsog, highlighted the dual significance of the project, emphasizing its role in advancing Xizang's economy while also serving as a catalyst for innovation in the renewable energy sector of the plateau region.
