Torrent Power Limited has announced a significant commitment of Rs 64,000 crore at the RE-Invest 2024 event held in Gandhinagar, India. The investment aims to achieve 10 Gigawatt (GW) of installed Renewable Energy (RE) capacity by 2030, generating direct and indirect employment for around 26,000 people. The company has also submitted a 'Shapath Patra' to the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy for the project. Torrent Power has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Gujarat for a 5 GW solar, wind, or solar-wind hybrid project in Dwarka District. Additionally, they are exploring opportunities in Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia production projects. Samir Mehta, Chairman of Torrent Group, expressed commitment to India's renewable energy journey and highlighted the alignment of their business operations with national priorities. The company also plans to invest in Pumped Storage Project sites across states to install 5 to 8 GW of capacity. Torrent Power's integrated power utility, with a significant presence in the power value chain, aims to contribute to a greener and sustainable future.
