It underscores the importance of investing in hydrogen technology, supply chains, and deployment to unlock economic benefits and tackle supply chain challenges. The report highlights quick wins in the hydrogen supply chain such as electrolyser stacks and power electronics, while also recognizing the need for concerted efforts in areas like compressors and reformer packages. Recommendations include an opportunistic approach to carbon capture packages, alongside long-term focus on areas like HV transformers and hydrogen gas turbines. The report calls for future funding mechanisms to prioritize UK suppliers, suggesting a mandatory supply chain assessment and the creation of a central Hydrogen Supply Chain Support and Funding Body. It also stresses the importance of aligning the UK's skills strategy with supply chain priorities. Clare Jackson, CEO of Hydrogen UK, believes that strategic investments in the supply chain and workforce can position the UK as a global leader, driving job creation and economic growth.
