The European Commission has announced funding of €1.25 billion for 41 cross-border energy infrastructure projects, with a significant focus on hydrogen initiatives. This funding aims to support decarbonization efforts in EU industries across several countries, including Austria, France, Germany, and Spain. Notably, a portion of the funding will go towards the BarMar-H2med project connecting Spain and France, along with hydrogen infrastructure developments in Italy, Portugal, Spain, and the Baltic region. Lhyfe, a French hydrogen producer, has commenced the construction of its fifth hydrogen production site in northern France, featuring a 5 MW electrolysis system. This site is strategically positioned to provide green hydrogen to local industries and mobility sectors by 2026, contributing to the region's decarbonization goals. Additionally, Lhyfe has secured funding for a renewable hydrogen production facility in Sweden, set to start operations in 2027. Quest One has initiated the construction of a demonstration plant for its Modular Hydrogen Platform electrolyzer in Germany to optimize hydrogen production processes. Moreover, efforts to identify the green hydrogen market in Indonesia are underway, with a focus on local production to enhance energy security. The collaboration between the IESR and the British Embassy aims to explore green hydrogen production opportunities in Indonesia, aligning with the country's goals for sustainable energy transition.
