GAIL (India) Ltd., in its 40th Annual General Meeting, announced plans to expand its petrochemical portfolio by exploring the feasibility of setting up a world-scale greenfield ethane cracker. Chairman Sandeep Kumar Gupta expressed optimism about the company's growth in the petrochemical sector and its position as a key player in India. Alongside this, GAIL aims to diversify and expand its portfolio with projects like the 500 KTA PDHPP Project, 60 KTA Polypropylene plant, 1,250 KTA PTA plant, and a 50 KTA Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) Project. Additionally, the company is actively enhancing its natural gas pipeline infrastructure, with plans to lay around 3400 km of new pipelines to complete the National Gas Grid (NGG). GAIL has also secured LNG supply agreements to ensure supply security. Moreover, GAIL is focused on achieving a Net Zero target by 2035, five years earlier than planned, by reducing Scope 1 & Scope 2 emissions. This effort includes initiatives like installing India's first MW-scale Green Hydrogen electrolyzer to produce hydrogen through electrolysis using renewable power. The company, along with its group companies, has significantly expanded its City Gas Distribution (CGD) operations, becoming the largest operator in India by acquiring new geographical areas and adding a substantial number of PNG connections and CNG stations to serve consumers' needs.
