Hyundai Motor India Ltd is set to establish a hydrogen innovation centre in Tamil Nadu, with an investment of Rs 180 crore. The centre, launched at the Tamil Nadu Investors Conclave 2024, aims to support the creation of a sustainable infrastructure for new generations of fuels. In partnership with IIT Madras and Guidance Tamil Nadu, the facility will cover 65,000 sq ft on the outskirts of Chennai. Key features include an Electrolyzer Test Rig, Electrolyzer/Fuel Cell Fabrication Line, Fuel Cell Test Station, and a Hydrogen Refuelling Station. The initiative is part of Hyundai's mission for a sustainable future and Tamil Nadu's vision for alternative fuels. The centre is expected to be fully operational by 2026, contributing to the development of hydrogen technologies, start-ups, and skilled manpower. This collaboration signifies a major step towards the hydrogen economy's realization and diffusion in Tamil Nadu and India, aimed at reducing carbon footprint and fostering innovation in the automobile industry.
