This plant, featuring a 10-megawatt proton exchange membrane electrolyser sourced from Canada, is geared to produce approximately 4.3 tonnes of green hydrogen daily at an exceptional purity level of 99.999% through the electrolysis of water using renewable electricity, particularly solar power. The company's initiative aligns with the National Green Hydrogen mission of India, which aims to achieve a substantial capacity of 5 million tons of green hydrogen production annually by the year 2030, emphasizing the nation's shift towards eco-friendly practices to mitigate carbon emissions while catering to its escalating energy demands. Moreover, GAIL plans to utilize the hydrogen generated for internal processes at Vijaipur initially and later intends to extend its distribution to nearby consumers, employing high-pressure cascades for transportation.
