The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has disclosed the outcomes of the 1500 MW Electrolyzer Manufacturing Auction held under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The auction, part of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy's Tranche II of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) program, aimed to establish electrolyzer manufacturing capacities across India. Divided into three buckets, the auction attracted bids from various companies, resulting in 11 winners across categories Bucket 2B, Bucket 2A, and Bucket 1. Notable winners include Adani Enterprises, Newage Green Electro, Waaree Energies, and more. The winning companies now have a 30-month timeline to finalize the commissioning of their manufacturing facilities. Post-commissioning, they will receive quarterly incentives on electrolyzer sales for five years. The auction process incorporated specific requirements for electrolyzers, such as operational life and energy consumption thresholds. Additionally, companies were mandated to exhibit a progressive increase in local value addition percentage over the initial five years of operation. Winning companies are set to focus on developing different types of electrolyzers, including Proton Exchange Membrane, Alkaline, and Membrane-less Electrolyzers. Noteworthy is the participation of companies like Ohmium, Matrix, Advait, and Newage Green Electro, who have secured bids in both Tranche I and Tranche II of the SIGHT program, capped at 300 MW each. The successful auction signifies a significant step towards India's green hydrogen goals and showcases a positive trend towards renewable energy adoption and manufacturing advancements within the country.
