Ohmium International, the green hydrogen company, has partnered with renewable energy firm SwitcH2 BV to supply PEM electrolyzer solutions for the OFFSET project, an industrial-scale floating green hydrogen and ammonia production facility off the coast of Southern Europe. The project will deploy 300 MW of Ohmium's electrolyzers on a 268-meter FPSO vessel to harness nearshore solar and wind power, along with treated seawater, for green hydrogen production. This hydrogen will then be used for on-deck ammonia synthesis, with the end product being transported to offtakers. The expected output includes 55,000 tonnes of green hydrogen and almost 300 kton of green ammonia annually, catering to the needs of multiple oceangoing vessels. The project has received support from the Dutch government and has secured design approval from the classification society DNV, with green ammonia production slated to begin by 2029. Ohmium's CEO expressed excitement about the collaboration, emphasizing the importance of green ammonia as a future clean fuel for the shipping industry. SwitcH2's Director also praised Ohmium's compact and efficient electrolyzers for their suitability in the FPSO environment, highlighting the ease of installation and scalability.
