Advent Technologies Holdings, Inc., based in Athens, Greece, has announced the launch of the RESCUE project, a strategic initiative aimed at developing portable fuel cells for backup power during natural disasters to support critical infrastructures. The project, funded under the HORIZON-JTI-CLEANH2-2024-04-01 call, has a total budget of €5 million, with Advent's approved budget being €2.16 million. RESCUE focuses on creating a certified, portable 50 kW power generator system using HT-PEM technology. The project consortium includes partners like DLR, CERTH, THW, and DTU, with Advent Technologies playing a key role in technology provision and innovation. The primary deliverable of RESCUE is a 50 kW High-Temperature Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (HT-PEM FC) dual-fuel portable power generator system designed for optimal mobility and deployment. This initiative responds to the critical need for sustainable, portable power solutions, especially in disaster-affected regions, emphasizing energy resilience and environmental sustainability through the use of hydrogen and hydrogen-rich fuels.
