The university hosted its third annual Energy and Sustainability Summit, in collaboration with key sponsors like Southern California Edison, Wells Fargo, and Amtrak San Joaquins. The event featured discussions on Orange County's Climate Action Plan, available resources for sustainability investments, and CSUF's contributions towards a greener future. CSUF President Ronald S. Rochon emphasized the institution's commitment to helping Orange County achieve its climate goals, including becoming carbon neutral by 2045. The university is actively implementing sustainability measures on campus, such as electric vehicle charging ports, LED lights, and sustainable design elements in construction projects. Furthermore, CSUF was recognized for its sustainability efforts in the Princeton Review's Green Colleges list. The university also focuses on preparing students for clean energy roles, as showcased by student researchers like biochemistry student Alexia Rodriguez and chemistry student Jordan Kennedy, who presented their research on hydrogen fuel cells at the summit. Their work highlighted the potential of green hydrogen as a renewable energy source for transportation and electronic devices. By involving students in conversations about clean energy and promoting sustainable practices, Cal State Fullerton is not only fostering an environmentally responsible campus but also playing a significant role in shaping the future workforce for the clean energy industry.
