ESB has launched a pioneering project in Dublin in collaboration with GeoPura and Siemens Energy to introduce hydrogen power generation demonstration fuel cells, marking the first instance of hydrogen being converted to electricity in Ireland. The demonstration showcases the utilization of fuel cell technology to convert hydrogen to clean electricity, capable of providing up to 250kW of power, with only pure water as the by-product. This initiative is part of a larger green hydrogen lighthouse project at Aghada Power Station in Co Cork, with plans for completion by 2025.
