Harford County, Maryland, is set to establish a biomanufacturing incubator near Aberdeen Proving Ground through a project led by Early Charm. The Maryland Department of Commerce has awarded $500,000 to Early Charm to convert the CONVERGE Innovation Center into a hub for commercializing advancements in biomanufacturing. Early Charm, known for converting university and federal lab inventions into commercial products, plans to focus on advanced materials like 3D printed ceramics, nanofibers for hydrogen fuel cells, flame retardants, and biologics modeling software. This initiative is expected to create well-paying jobs in the region and boost economic development. The project, supported by the Harford County Economic Development team and Harford Community College, will also offer workforce training programs and support for startups. The vision is to make the CONVERGE facility a center for scientific discovery and entrepreneurship, attracting talent and fostering innovation in northeastern Maryland. Harford County Executive Bob Cassilly praised the grant award and highlighted the potential of the project to advance biomanufacturing's commercial applications and bring new opportunities to the region.
