HDF Energy, located in Blanquefort, France, has secured a substantial grant of up to €172m from the European Commission to support the advancement and industrialization of hydrogen fuel cells. This funding will be instrumental in developing multi-megawatt fuel cells tailored for heavy maritime and rail mobility, as well as for electricity production in public power grids. The support comes as part of the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) initiative, particularly under the Commission's Hy2Move program. The approval acknowledges HDF's potential to drive hydrogen technology in transportation. The company plans to establish a high-power fuel cell test platform at its industrial site, offering benefits to both industrial partners and European research institutions. Hanane El Hamraoui, Deputy CEO of HDF, expressed the significance of this milestone in HDF's mission to decarbonize transportation using hydrogen. The recently inaugurated fuel cell manufacturing plant, equipped to develop 1MW+ fuel cells, highlights HDF's commitment to advancing fuel cell technology. The plant aims to export a significant portion of its PEM fuel cell tech production, reinforcing HDF Energy's status as a key player in the hydrogen industry and promoting international collaboration in sustainable energy solutions.
