  • Bramble Energy's innovative PCBFC™ technology demonstrates practicality, scalability, and commitment to a sustainable future with zero-emission commercial vehicles.
Bramble Energy, in collaboration with Equipmake, Aeristech, and the University of Bath, has achieved a significant milestone in the HEIDI project, focusing on developing a hydrogen double-deck bus. The project aims to save nearly 6 million tonnes of CO2 emissions by using Bramble Energy's low-cost printed circuit board fuel cell technology. After one year, the consortium has finalized concept designs for the fuel cell system and the bus itself, ensuring that the bus can accommodate 86 passengers with a range of up to 280 miles on UK bus routes using 350 bar hydrogen. This range surpasses the typical daily distance covered by London buses and offers refueling times similar to diesel or petrol alternatives. The project has shown promising results in early testing of the fuel cell stack, indicating a clean and efficient power source for public transport. Moving forward, the consortium will focus on manufacturing key components like the fuel cell stack and the hydrogen storage system. Dr. Vidal Bharath, CCO at Bramble Energy, highlights the practicality and scalability of their innovative technology, emphasizing the commitment to a sustainable future by reducing CO2 emissions and supporting job creation. The integration of fuel cell stacks into the hydrogen double-deck bus not only advances sustainable transport but also demonstrates a cost-effective and zero-emission solution for the commercial transport sector.
