A recent UK government-backed event, HyHaul, held at UTAC Millbrook, featured hydrogen-powered trucks from manufacturers like FAUN Zoeller and Toyota. The event aimed to provide UK-based operators with firsthand experience of hydrogen-powered heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). Attendees had the opportunity to ride on vehicles from FAUN Zoeller and Toyota Hillux along Millbrook's Hill Route, while also exploring other hydrogen vehicles and infrastructure like Viritech's ICEBreaker and Fuel Cell Systems' HyQube. HyHaul's ambitious plan involves developing the 'UK's largest hydrogen mobility corridor' along the M4 motorway, with aims to deploy 30 hydrogen fuel cell HGVs by 2026 and 300 by 2030. The core objective of HyHaul is to encourage collaboration between operators and manufacturers to drive the adoption of hydrogen technology and the development of necessary infrastructure. Jon Perry, the group's Commercial Manager, expressed satisfaction with the high level of engagement at the event and highlighted the value of experiencing the vehicles firsthand and facilitating direct collaboration among stakeholders. The initiative, which received over £30m in funding from the UK Government's Department for Transport and Innovate UK, is a significant step towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future for transportation in the UK.
