Hyundai Motor Group has announced an ambitious plan during the Global Hydrogen Ecosystem Summit in Jakarta to establish a hydrogen production ecosystem in West Java, Indonesia. The project focuses on utilizing waste, particularly biogas extracted from the Sarimukti landfill near Bandung, to produce hydrogen. This initiative, expected to be operational by 2027, involves the collaboration of Hyundai with PT Pertamina, the ESDM Ministry, and BAPPENAS. The project includes setting up a hydrogen refuelling station utilizing existing infrastructure and partnering with Korean institutions to support technology transfer. The involvement of Indonesian public authorities and Korean industrial players highlights the comprehensive approach to address environmental challenges and promote energy diversification. Furthermore, social initiatives with NGOs like Good Neighbors aim to improve local living conditions. This project represents a significant milestone in promoting sustainable energy solutions and international cooperation in the hydrogen sector, showcasing the potential for successful integration of advanced technologies in the Indonesian market.
