Hyundai Motor Company's hydrogen-powered truck, the Xcient Fuel Cell, has achieved a significant milestone in Switzerland, surpassing 10 million kilometers in accumulated mileage. Launched in October 2020, the Xcient Fuel Cell trucks have proven their reliability and efficiency in the central European country, with 48 trucks currently in operation. Equipped with a 180-kilowatt hydrogen fuel cell system and a 350 kW driving motor, these trucks can cover up to 400 km per charge. Hyundai highlighted the environmental benefits of its hydrogen trucks, emphasizing that they only emit water during operation, in stark contrast to diesel-powered trucks that emit carbon dioxide. The company stated that the 10 million km mileage achieved by the hydrogen trucks is equivalent to the environmental impact of planting a large forest. This showcases the potential for hydrogen technology to mitigate carbon emissions and promote sustainability. Furthermore, Hyundai announced its commitment to advancing hydrogen fuel cell technology based on driver experiences and data gathered from the trucks.
