French-owned hydrogen producer Lhyfe is seeking government funding for a 20MW hydrogen production plant in Wallsend, UK. The plant would have the capacity to produce 8 tonnes of hydrogen per day, with a focus on supplying 80 hydrogen trucks in the region. Lhyfe's proposal is part of the government's second Hydrogen Allocation Round (HAR) to support subsidised hydrogen projects. The company aims to capitalize on the UK's hydrogen strategy, which targets 10GW of hydrogen capacity by 2030. Lhyfe plans to use renewable energy sources for the plant, with an alkaline electrolyser powered by renewable electricity agreements.
