The 11th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge held at the Yacht Club de Monaco has brought together over 450 students from 40 universities across 25 nations to present their innovative boat projects. The competition features three main categories: Energy Class, Solar Class, and Open Sea Class. In the Energy Class, teams develop their own cockpit, energy storage, and engine using various energy sources, including hydrogen fuel cells. The Solar Class focuses on utilizing solar panels, while the Open Sea Class showcases speed and efficiency. Noteworthy participants include team Riviera Racing from Cambridge University, opting for hydrogen power in the competition. The event also sees the presence of industry-certified boats like the Riva El-Iseo, the first fully-electric boat by Riva and the Ferretti Group, emphasizing zero emissions and e-luxury in yachting. Supported by major industry players and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the challenge provides valuable networking opportunities and job prospects for young competitors, aiming to drive the yachting industry towards sustainability and innovation.
