The NWO Applied and Technical Sciences domain has allocated 4.5 million euros to support six innovative research projects through the Open Technology Programme. Besides the NWO funding, industry and other organizations are contributing over 760 hundred thousand euros to advance these application-oriented projects in different fields. The projects cover a wide spectrum of topics, including optimizing treatment methods for COPD, developing protective coatings for hydrogen sensors to enhance electrolyzers and fuel cells, and creating new fire safety solutions using 3D printing techniques. Each project focuses on addressing specific challenges, such as improving animal welfare through genetic studies, developing smart wearables for continuous patient monitoring, and enhancing climate resilience in infrastructure materials. The research teams consist of experts from various institutions, collaborating to bring forward innovative solutions in their respective domains.
