Panasonic's HX renewable energy demonstration facility in Cardiff has marked a significant milestone by being the first to integrate hydrogen fuel cells along with solar PV and battery storage to power the plant entirely on renewable energy. The plant, previously a microwave facility, now also features a heat exchanger and Panasonic ECOi-W R290 Aqua Blue-G heat pump, replacing the traditional gas boiler. Additionally, a Panasonic Aquarea M series air-to-water heat pump has been installed at a new training center on-site. This center aims to provide training opportunities for both young individuals and professionals interested in tackling climate change. The company's investment of €130m in HX technology in Japan will further advance their renewable energy efforts, with plans to replicate the success of the Cardiff facility in another European location by 2025.
