Plug Power Inc. Completes Deployment of 13 Hydrogen Refueling Stations Across Europe
Key Ideas
- Plug Power Inc. has successfully deployed 13 hydrogen refueling stations across Europe in the last two years, supporting material handling and mobility applications.
- The stations cater to a variety of customers, including Amazon, Renault, and other leading companies, with a focus on converting to hydrogen fuel cell-powered equipment.
- Plug's turnkey solutions, from station construction to hydrogen delivery, have resulted in operational efficiency gains and support for corporate sustainability goals.
- The company's expertise has significantly reduced the time-to-market for a refueling station from 18 months to 6 months, showing a growing demand for hydrogen solutions in the European market.
Plug Power Inc., a global leader in hydrogen solutions, has completed the installation of 13 hydrogen refueling stations (HRS) across Europe to support material handling and mobility applications. These stations, located in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands, are either operational or in the commissioning phase, with full functionality expected by this summer.
The deployment of these stations serves a range of customers, including major companies like Amazon, Renault, Lidl, and more. The largest stations are projected to consume close to half a ton of hydrogen daily. Furthermore, these HRS facilities also cater to Plug's own operations and HYVIA locations, a Plug-Renault joint venture focusing on hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles.
Plug's comprehensive HRS solutions cover everything from station construction to hydrogen delivery. By converting lead acid battery-powered equipment to hydrogen fuel cell-powered, many sites are experiencing efficiency gains and meeting their sustainability targets through the use of green hydrogen.
Andy Marsh, the CEO of Plug, highlighted the company's success in reducing the time-to-market for refueling stations, showcasing the increasing demand for hydrogen solutions in Europe. Plug Power Inc. is actively involved in building a green hydrogen ecosystem, with plans for a green hydrogen highway in North America and Europe and the development of multiple green hydrogen production plants by the end of 2028.
